Water Leak Detection
Water leaks can be notoriously difficult to detect. Even if a leaking water pipe is noticed, the cost and disruption associated with locating the source can be considerable. Too often walls and floors are unnecessarily damaged and even then there is no guarantee that the leak will be found.
For a fraction of the cost incurred by using traditional destructive methods, our water leak detection service not only speeds up the identification of leaks but also reduces the inconvenience associated with the repair work. Once the leak has been located it will be possible for us to repair the leak or replace the piping as efficiently as possible – if required. We also have the services of an experienced Plumber to hand.
As part of our ongoing development we are offering infrared thermography, trace gas, acoustics and endoscopy leak detection services for the non-destructive invasive testing of industrial, commercial and domestic premises. The combination of these technologies greatly reduces time spent, disruption and excavation while identifying faults within the building and therefore reducing costs.
Once you have booked your survey with us it is most important to check with your insurer to see if you have TRACE & ACCESS cover. The majority of policies have this cover! If you have this cover then your insurer will reimburse you the cost of our survey. We provide a fully detailed report for your insurance company.
Thermography is the use of an infrared imaging and measurement camera to "see" and "measure" thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermography cameras can identify problem areas that can’t be seen with the naked eye, detecting hidden water leaks. The infrared inspection camera can detect not only hidden water leaks and their origin, but also moisture that cannot be physically reached with moisture meters.
The trace gas, is a safe mixture of hydrogen and nitrogen, it is introduced into the pipe with the suspected leak. The gas, is the lightest in the atmosphere and is made up of small molecules. The gas will exit at the leak and make its way to the surface where it is detected using gas sensitive detection probes.
Acoustic Leak Detection
Acoustic leak detection is perhaps one of the most commonly used forms of leak detection to find leaks in mains water supplies and pressurised plumbing systems. This system allows for the locating of the loudest point of the noise by using highly sensitive microphone to pick up the sound. Acoustic detection equipment can be used alone or in conjunction with other methods offering incredible detection accuracy without destruction to walls and floors.
Visual Leak Detection
The use of equipment like endoscopes (fiberscope) makes it possible for us to see in places the human head simply cannot fit! Cameras get smaller and more versatile every year enabling us to get a clear view through the tiniest or most inaccessible gap. The scope can be guided through hollow spaces, bore holes and bends. In this way the damaged point can be appraised with minimum dismantling of the building fabric.
Pipe, Cable and Metal Detection and Tracing
Often the exact position of pipes and cables is unknown due to inaccurate or nonexistent network plans. In order to carry out precise water leak detection and to avoid damage to utilities and operators during excavations, it is essential to know the precise position of all services. We use high performance equipment which can locate and trace buried pipes and cables.
We provide leak detection services for:
- Central heating leaks.
- Burst Pipes
- Mains supply leakage (Internal and external).
- Hot and cold feed.
- Structural leaks.
- Under floor heating.
- Identification of moisture coming from an unknown source and origin.
We also provide additional services:
- C.C.T.V. surveys and reports.
- Pipe location.
- Utility line location.
- Metal Detection.
